Like any other girl, I love a bit of tantalizing gossip so when Anita Lau a.k.a. the Mad Hungry Woman sent a super secret invite simply titled “Anita Lau Unveils Her Secret Lover,” I was perplexed. Who could this possibly be? Was she dating someone I didn’t know about? I had to know.
So in mid-April (yes, I know. That was a while ago. Blame it on blogger’s malaise), we all gathered at Break of Dawn Restaurant eagerly anticipating her announcement. Never mind that there was also a taco stand present. A foodie just sees food and sometimes ignores the obvious – Anita’s secret lover was right before us: Soho Taco. Ah yes! How ironic. The sole purpose of the event was the raise awareness for these yummy delectable tacos; something we would never get to try on our own unless we were to hold a private catering event. It all made sense.
The evening was a quite a treat for select foodies and social media fanatics. Chef Dee Nguyen of Break of Dawn Restaurant graciously let use his space while Soho Taco setup operations outside. I was instantly impressed by all the fresh ingredients, the careful attention to detail, how fast the line moved, and the handmade tortillas. It was quite the culinary experience and all topped with refreshing drinks courtesy of Big Train. They provided us with three Mexican inspired drinks: Vivaz Horchata, Vivaz Jamaica, and the Shaken Mango Passion Green Tea. By the time, I got there the drinks were almost gone and the line for the tacos was long. The secret was out and people were hungry.
I honestly can’t pick a favorite taco. I savored them all and enjoyed the tangy shrimp, veggie, and chicken offerings as well as their unique salsa. Soho Taco is unlike any other taco. If you’re looking for the perfect taco experience for your party or event, follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and check out their website.
