Donned in crisp, white chef coats with our names stitched on them, my blogger pal Wendy and I were pleased to be welcomed to the Next Chapter of California Pizza Kitchen at the Brea Mall. Immediately upon entering, you’ll notice the fresh clean look and feel and that’s because each newly remodeled store is designed to embrace the locale of that area it’s serving.
Before sitting down to eat, we took a tour of the back kitchen with General Manager Anthony Vandermost and got a better idea of the new vision including the new open-style kitchen that allows guests to watch as their pizzas are being made, hand tossed, and baked in the open-hearth oven. After our tour, Wendy and I had a chance to finally get our hands on some dough, top our pizzas with fresh ingredients to our heart’s delight, and watch as they were being made.
Part of the new design is the revamped menu. Aside from upping the game with their artisanal pizzas, CPK menu also features some robust new menu items that will appease and satiate any palate including a fire-grilled rib-eye, a hearth-roasted halibut, and my personal favorite – the roasted garlic chicken with seasonal vegetables.
If you’re sitting at the bar and admiring the new oak finish, don’t miss out on the bar menu. We were fortunate enough to try the Executive Decision which sort of reminds me of a cross between a mojito and a margarita. It contains Casamigos Blanco Tequila, muddled mint, fresh Agave Sour, Monin Organic Agave Nectar and fresh lime.
“Our new environment has been welcoming Brea patrons with a relaxed, upscale feel and many natural elements,” said General Manager Anthony Vandermost. “We’re pleased to be able to introduce the new menu showcasing seasonal dishes, locally sourced ingredients and globally inspired flavors to complete the ‘Next Chapter’ feel of the restaurant.”
Along with the new, we also decided to partake in some of our old favorites and we were happy to see they were still available and tasted just as good as we remembered them to be. The new look embraces California’s roots, keeps sustainability in mind, and offers a casual but refined dining experience to all.
