Breakfast at McDonald’s has been a rite of passage since my running days. Before the start of each race, at the ass crack of dawn, I’d make use of their heated space to warm up, get some needed carbs, and then go burn them off for 13.1 or 26.2 miles of pure, unnecessary torture.
Now that those days are over, it’s been a mad dash to get to a McDonald’s by 10:30am for that guilty pleasure of perfectly crispy hash browns, a sausage egg muffin, and that freshly brewed McCafe (two creams and two sugars, please).
However all that has changed! Starting this month, the king of fast-food breakfast is making yours and mine dreams come true with an all-day breakfast menu. Rejoice my people! If you’re a breakfast lover like me, you can get your fix any time of the day but there’s a catch! It’s a limited menu – like only 4-5 items depending on what’s popular in your local area. If you want the full breakfast menu, you still need to be awake, or somewhat coherent, before 10:30AM. Even with all things considered, a limited menu still works but be prepared for some wait times. McDonald’s breakfast lovers are causing some delays. I had to wait 20 minutes for my order and exit the drive-thru line but I didn’t mind.
As they work out the kinks, I’m sure it’ll be a swift exit and the limited menu will provide for a quicker exit through the drive thru. Pretty sure that’s what McDonald’s was thinking with a reduced menu option. If they served their whole menu, you might not get your order and the all-day breakfast concept would fail. Boo.
So thanks, McDonald’s for making my work week a lot easier and allowing me to get my breakfast fix whenever I want. You’ll be seeing my face in your drive-thru a lot more often.
