One Friday night, I decided to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday and check out a new restaurant at the same time.
D’Vine has been in North County for about 4 years with their fabulous Mediterranean cuisine but for some reason, they never hit my radar until just recently. With diverse menu selections, made from scratch ingredients, and a true passion for cooking, D’Vine is the brainchild of founders Walid Alarja and Lena Quezada who met in 2011 and realized there was an opportunity to create something dynamic – which they clearly did.
My guest and I were treated like family – we weren’t just paying customers filling a table. We were personally greeted, given an explanation of the menu (in case we didn’t understand what we were about order), and then treated to probably one of the most finest dining experiences. Everything was exceptional especially the garlic sauce that accompanies almost every plate. The popular sauce was actually created 15 years ago! Through trial and error, the process became more simplified and today it’s a blend of ONLY raw garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and a touch of salt.
If you’re looking to dine in, I recommend you plan your visit for either a Friday or a Saturday – especially at the Fullerton location which has an amazing outdoor experience with a full bar, cigar lounge, a full dining room, and a banquet hall. While we were dining, we were treated to a belly dancing show and then told the patio was open for hookah! If I’m being honest, any day is a great day to dine in at D’Vine and maybe it’ll be your favorite Mediterranean place as well.
Here are some menu items to tempt you for your visit:
Fridays are better with friends and great food. Thanks to Chef Walid’s passion for food, I’m in a serious food coma after devouring this beef kabob served with rice pilaf and baba ghanoush. At D’Vine nothing is frozen or filled with preservatives – it’s all made fresh in house and you can tell the difference with each bite.
If all veggies looked and tasted this good, I wouldn’t have any problems getting my daily serving. Luckily that isn’t really an issue at D’Vine because everything Chef Walid puts on a plate is pure perfection, made with love and served up fresh. This dish in particular is their beet salad – find it on their cold mezzas menu. It’s a simple mix of beets, olive oil, lemon juice and salt.
